What did you pay for your Harley-Davidson 883 Iron?

I recently was given a quote of $10,200 OTD. I keep reading about people who have paid $7600-$9300. The MSRP is $7899. Needless to say the dealer still has the bike.
And before you answer, there is a new Sportster model out, 883 Iron. It's not an ironhead.
Where I live is 9.25% sales tax.
side note...another dealer gave me a quote on a used Nightster 2008, less than 2000mi. with financing and after $1000 dwn the payments are $220/mo. for 72 months....bahahahahahahaa!

If you can't sweet talk them into MSRP as your final price, either they aren't interested in making a deal or you aren't a very convincing haggler. This rule of thumb extends to any vehicle purchase.

The 883 Sportster is not their cash cow. They aren't buying a new Ultra Classic every year because of what they make off you from that bike. Knowing that, you can talk them down to next to nothing. It may help to buy some other stuff with the motor company's logo on it at the time, to make it seem like you're really into the lifestyle. Better yet, spend some time there and get buddy buddy with them. Soften them up over a period of time and see what happens. You could also use another dealership against them if you can find a better price somewhere else. There are all kinds of ways to overcome the limited intellect of a vehicle salesman.
