I have a 1992 Harley Electra Glide Sport, and I wonder what kind of oil to use.?

They said I could use 20w50, but it has to be synthetic? I'm a novice at this, so I'll make a stupid question. What is the principal? Are you saying that is used motor oil in your tranny? Harley told me not to run synthetic in my bike, since better bike.

Use one of AMSOIL and Lucas oil brand. Stay away from Harley oil. Not made by Harley. Amsoil Lucas and oil only. I can use 20w 50 in the motor and primary gear and serious 75W 90 in the transmission. By the way I'm riding a 99 Electra Glide.
